Swimming pool

The municipal pool, the J. Eduardo Hernández, is on Calle Lucero and it is indoor, so you can swim all year regardless of the beach season. It is run by the Vélez-Málaga sports department and offers free swimming, swimming courses and water activities.

Three practical notes

• Hours change between winter and summer, extending in season. Check before turning up with your bag.
• Courses run by term and they fill. Children's swimming is the first thing to sell out, especially at the start of the school year.
• It is municipal, with what that implies. Public pricing, and being on the municipal register usually counts towards the fee, which makes it the cheapest way to train here compared with the private gyms.
