Where to stay

Holiday apartments

For a family or a group staying a week, an apartment usually works out better than a hotel: a kitchen, more space and a terrace. It is the second most searched way to sleep in town.

Check the registration code. This is the important part

In Andalusia every home let to tourists is regulated. It must be registered with the regional tourism registry and it must show its registration code in the advert. If a listing does not display one, the let is not compliant, and you have no protection if the booking collapses the week before you travel.

What the law obliges the owner to provide

The same regulation, in force since 2016, sets a minimum standard you can insist on:

  • Cooling or heating depending on the season.
  • A first aid kit and a smoke detector.
  • A kitchen with at least two rings, an oven or microwave, and a fridge.
  • Ventilated bathrooms.

If what you find on arrival falls short of that, you have grounds to complain rather than a matter of opinion.

Two practical notes

Confirm air conditioning and parking in writing. Those are the two arguments that happen at the door in August. Cooling is required by law, a parking space is not.

Book months ahead for August and festival weeks. Apartments are the first category to sell out, because they are what families look for.
