Guesthouses, called hostales and pensiones here, are the budget option: simple rooms, central, close to the sea. For one or two nights they beat an apartment, because cleaning and key handover weigh heavily on a short stay.

The two in town

• Hostal Don Juan, in Calle Patrón Veneno, near the beach. A 4.3 average over 148 public reviews.
• Pensión Mediterráneo, in the centre a hundred metres from the sand, with 18 rooms with private bathroom. A 3.7 over 156 reviews.

Those two figures are worth reading side by side. With almost the same number of guests having their say, six tenths of a point is not statistical noise, it is a real difference in experience.

If you are staying longer or travelling as a group, compare first with the town's hotels and with the campsite, which has bungalows.
