Pensión Mediterráneo

The Pensión Mediterráneo has eighteen rooms, singles, doubles and triples, all with a private bathroom, in the middle of the town beside the church of San Andrés. The beach is a hundred metres away and the bars are downstairs.

Its rating is a 3.7, the lowest of the places to stay I list here, and I would rather explain that than leave it out. Budget guesthouses collect the complaints that hotels absorb: a thin wall, a small room, a night when the street was loud. What it delivers is a clean private room in the centre at a price no hotel in this town reaches.

The honest way to use it

Come here if the room is where you sleep and nothing else, and come with your expectations set to the price. If you are travelling with a family and want space and quiet, the holiday apartments are the better route. And take the location seriously: being beside San Andrés puts you at the centre of the fiestas, which is wonderful in July and less wonderful at three in the morning.
