The feria

The feria of Torre del Mar is held for Santiago and Santa Ana, from 22 to 27 July, and it is the week the town belongs to itself.

Two ferias in one

There is a day fair in the centre and a night fair at the fairground, and they are genuinely different events. The day fair is street level, in the bars and the squares, from midday onwards. The night fair has the casetas, the rides and the music, and it runs until very late.

The maritime procession

The most striking moment is the procession of the Virgin of Carmen, patron of fishermen, which goes out both by land and by sea. Boats carry the image along the coast. If you only come for one thing, come for this.

Practical

• Book accommodation well ahead. The town fills.
• The centre changes. Streets close and parking becomes difficult, so walk.
• Nothing starts early. The night fair does not really begin until after eleven, and the last night is the biggest.
• Confirm the exact programme with the council closer to the date, since times and the order of events are set each year.
