Beach music festival

Over a long weekend in July, the western beach of Torre del Mar, the Playa de Poniente, hosts a music festival. It is the event on the calendar that brings the youngest crowd and the one that changes the town most while it lasts.

What it means for the town

Accommodation fills, the promenade is busy at hours it usually is not, and the western end of the beach is given over to the site. If you are here for the festival, everything is walkable. If you are here for a quiet beach holiday, these are dates to check before booking.

Practical

  • Dates and line-up are announced by the organisers each year, usually months in advance. Tickets are theirs, not ours.
  • Book accommodation early. The town has five hotels and two hostales, and they are the first thing to go.
  • The rest of the beach still works. Torre del Mar's shoreline is long, and the eastern end, towards the lighthouse, carries on as normal.

Why it is on this coast

A wide beach that can hold a site, a town small enough to walk and an airport an hour away. It is the same combination that makes the rest of the calendar work here.
