Marisqueria El Radar
El Radar has been on the promenade since 1981, which makes it one of the veterans of the seafront and one of the few businesses in this directory that predates the tourist boom of the coast. It serves fish and shellfish from the bay of Malaga with the sea in front of the terrace.
The house rests on three things: shellfish, fried fish, and rice. That third one is the reason to book. Paella and fideua are cooked to order and take their time, so ask for the rice when you sit down rather than after the starters, and count on forty minutes. Nobody worth eating from will make it faster.
Rice on this coast is a lunch dish, not an evening one, and I would keep to that. Confirm the day's hours by phone before setting out, because the timetable moves with the season on this stretch of the promenade.
