Best insurance
Four insurance offices in Torre del Mar carry a public rating. It is a small table, and the thing that should decide between them is not the score but what kind of office each one is.
Agent and broker are not the same job
An agente represents one company and sells that company's policies. A corredor or correduría is an independent broker who compares several companies and is legally obliged to advise you objectively. Both are legitimate and both are in this table. Which you want depends on whether you already know the insurer you trust.
What matters if you own a flat here
- The building's policy does not cover your flat. The community of owners insures the structure and common areas. Everything inside your door is yours to insure.
- Water damage between flats is the most common claim in Spanish apartment blocks and the point where the two policies meet. Know which covers what before it happens.
- If the flat stands empty for months, declare it. Long unoccupancy affects cover and is better declared than discovered.
On the car
Third party cover is compulsory for every vehicle in Spain and it is the minimum, not the norm. When comparing, the excess is the number that matters, not the headline premium.
