What to do, season by season
Torre del Mar is a beach town, and what there is to do follows the season closely. Here it is by time of year rather than as a list.
All year
The beach and the promenade. The promenade is long, flat and made for walking, and the town uses it in January as much as in July. At one end is the lighthouse, at the other the open coast towards Caleta.
In summer
- The water park, Aquavelis, which is the biggest single attraction in the area and open in the season only.
- Water sports from the sailing club on the promenade. The marina itself is three kilometres east, at Caleta de Vélez.
- Nightlife, which starts late even by Spanish standards: bars after eleven, clubs after one.
Sport, year round
Padel, gyms, yoga and pilates studios and the municipal indoor pool, which is open all year and is the cheapest way to train in town.
The calendar
Four dates carry the year: the feria in late July, the music festival on the western beach in July, the air show in early September, which fills the whole seafront, and the Oktoberfest in mid October. Holy Week in spring is a different kind of event and belongs to the town rather than to visitors.
