Best supermarkets
Five supermarkets in Torre del Mar carry a public rating, with more than 5,700 reviews between them. The leader alone accounts for over three thousand.
The whole trade is squeezed into two tenths
Every rated supermarket here sits between 4.0 and 4.2. That is not indifference, it is what happens when thousands of people rate a shop they visit weekly: the extremes cancel out and everything converges. In this table the number of reviews tells you far more than the score, because it measures how much of the town actually shops there.
This is a chain trade, and that is deliberate in the ranking
Most of these are national chains. The score rewards having a website and a published phone number, which chains have by default, so a small neighbourhood shop cannot win this table on those factors. It is worth knowing when reading it, and it is why the smaller food shops are listed under their own trades, bakeries and the market hall among them.
Opening hours, which catch visitors out
Most supermarkets here close on Sunday and on public holidays, and several still close at midday in winter. In August the pattern shifts with the season. The week before a long weekend, go early.
